How to Remove Shadows From a Person’s Face in Photoshop

When you are shooting in a studio, you have full control over the lighting and content in the frame, but if you are shooting in another environment, particularly outside, you may end up with unwanted shadows distracting from your subject, ruining an otherwise compelling photo. All is not lost, though. This excellent video tutorial will show you how to convincingly remove those shadows using Photoshop.

Coming to you from Kayleigh June, this great video tutorial will show you how to remove shadows from a subject’s face using Photoshop. As you will see, with some careful work, it is possible to do this convincingly, and it is great practice in a variety of Photoshop techniques. On the other hand, it is a rather time-intensive task, and as such, it is not the type of thing you want to rely on as an easy fix. Rather, it is a good technique to know in the case that you have a compelling with such a shadow that you can’t reshoot. For example, wedding photographers might have a nice shot of the couple that makes for a great memory if not for a distracting shadow of a branch, in which case, this technique is quite useful to have in your back pocket. Check out the video above for the full rundown from June.
