How to Post-Process an Astro Image

Astro Photography

Some genres almost require post-processing of images to fully finish them, astro photography being one of them. The post-processing techniques involved are rather particular, and this excellent video tutorial will show you how to edit an image with the Milky Way combined with a light-painted landscape, all using Photoshop.

Coming to you from Nick Page, this great video tutorial will show you how to edit an image with the Milky Way and a light-painted landscape using Photoshop. As you can see in this video, astro photography does not have to be exclusively something dedicated astrophotographers do. In fact, it is a fantastic tool for landscape photographers. Nighttime landscapes can be a lot of fun and a great way to explore an entirely different aesthetic from the normal daytime look, but that being said, you will want to take care both to situate yourself in a good orientation with the night sky (PhotoPills is a great app for this) and to consider how your subject is lit, which is part of the challenge of it. When you get things right, however, it makes all the challenges of it well worth it. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Page.
