A Look at the Nikon NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.2 S Lens

Nikon’s impressive new NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.2 S lens is here, and along with it comes some of the best image quality and optical performance ever seen from Nikon, at least on paper. How does it perform in the real world, though? This great video takes a look at the lens and how it balances and feels on some of Nikon’s most popular mirrorless cameras.

Coming to you from Matt Irwin Photography, this excellent video review takes a look at the new Nikon NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.2 S lens, including a preview of its image quality and how it balances on some of Nikon’s most popular bodies. For those of you considering the lens for DX format cameras, remember that it becomes a 127.5mm focal length on such bodies. The 85mm lens is the classic choice for wedding and portrait photographers, and it is often where manufacturers will show off some of their most extreme and uncompromising optical design. Of course, with that extreme design comes a high price, though not out of line with such lenses. Altogether, it looks like for those who desire uncompromising performance, the 85mm f/1.2 is going to be quite a heavy hitter. Check out the video above for more from Irwin.
