DJI AVATA 360 RC 2 Overview

Infinite creativity is now possible with the DJI Avata 360 with RC 2. Enjoy the flexibility of seamlessly switching between a single lens 4K60 sensor and a full 360° 8K60 HDR sensor. With 360° footage, you can turn one flight into a complete creation as the Avata 360 records everything around it. Cut multiple clips with different viewpoints, reframe your main shot from a different angle, and combine different elements together into a fully produced piece. All without having to fly over and over. Other new additions include subject tracking and omnidirectional obstacle sensing, making the Avata 360 great for FPV and general filming, plus even safer than previous models.

Dual-Mode Cameras

Seamlessly switch between a standard, single-lens 4K60 camera and a 360° 8K60 HDR camera. The single-lens camera can capture the dynamic, fast-paced, FPV footage the Avata line is known for, while the 360° lens opens up aerial filming to new dimensions. With 1″-equivalent sensors, HDR, and large 2.4 μm pixels, 360° footage is incredibly clear and realistic, with light and shadow separation.

The 360° camera captures everything as the Avata 360 flies, removing the drone from the footage in the process. That means you can fly once and use footage from what was behind the Avata 360, or to the side of it, reframe your main shot after the fact, and more. As you fly, you can also infinitely rotate and tilt the view to look around, flipping the view, zoom from standard to Asteroid effects, or create a dolly zoom effect. In addition to 8K60 video, you can snap 120MP 16K 360° photos, with the same reframing ability to save multiple still images at different angles from a single shot.

Subject Tracking

Another new feature for the Avata 360 is ActiveTrack 360 and Spotlight. These subject tracking technologies help beginners and pros alike capture cinematic shots with ease.ActiveTrack 360 will automatically select the optimal tracking mode, such as Standard for maintaining a steady distance and altitude relative to the subject, or Cycling, which reacts faster to turns while still keeping the subject in focus and in frame.

Spotlight locks onto a subject with the Avata 360’s nose facing them, keeping the subject in frame as you have the drone perform pre-programmed movement, such as with Circle or Dronie. You also have Spotlight Free, which locks onto a subject while giving you complete freedom to fly around it, letting you focus on complex movements without worrying about keeping the camera centered.

FPV Gimbal Mode
This mode adds a natural roll effect to Spotlight Free, ActiveTrack 360, and manual flight. It’s designed to give an FPV-style look to evoke a sense of speed. You can also apply this mode in post-production.
Stabilized Footage
Steady footage from a fast-paced FPV drone like the DJI Avata 360 can be nearly impossible to achieve, which is why DJI incorporates the RockSteady and HorizonSteady features. RockSteady is designed for pure stabilization to compensate for high speeds and windy conditions, and is available in both 360° and Single Lens modes. HorizonSteady is a more specific stabilization in that it locks onto the horizon during horizontal rotation up to 360°, and is available only in 360° mode.
Even Safer Flying
the Dji Avata 360 upgrades the previous generation’s binocular vision sensors for fully omnidirectional obstacle sensing. It also offers Vision Assist, which is a full-color 1080p view from front, back, and side sensors to keep you aware of your surroundings. At night, forward-facing LiDAR and omnidirectional obstacle sensing, even in 360 mode, help you safely film nightscapes. These sensors are in addition to the fully integrated propeller guards for which the Avata is known.
