Leica Q3 43 Overview

Combining full-frame imaging with design details drawn from motorsport, the Leica Q3 43 Formula 1® Edition pairs a 60MP sensor and APO-Summicron 43mm f/2 ASPH. lens with distinctive Formula 1 branding and coordinated accessories.

Its standard focal length suits portraits, street photography, and everyday storytelling, while selectable image resolutions and video recording up to 8K provide flexibility for stills and motion. Black Microvelour trim, carbon-fiber accents, and red controls give this special edition a tactile finish inspired by racing equipment.

Leica x Formula 1® Inspired by Racing Equipment
  • Black Microvelour covering provides a textured gripping surface
  • Carbon-fiber elements accent the handgrip, thumb support, and soft-release button

    • Red shutter-release and function-button accents make the controls easier to identify

  • Formula 1® details appear on the top plate, lens cap, and carrying strap
  • The included handgrip supports wireless charging and features an Arca-Swiss-compatible mount. A charging pad is available separately
  • An exclusive Formula 1® Leica Look preset adds contrast and saturation to JPEG images and can be installed using the Leica FOTOS app
Full-Frame Sensor and Maestro IV Processor
The 60MP sensor’s back-illuminated design supports detailed capture across varied lighting conditions. Its resolution also accommodates digital cropping, offering framing equivalent to 60, 75, 90, 120, and 150mm focal lengths.

Triple Resolution Technology allows selection of 60, 36, or 18MP output in DNG or JPEG format. Each setting uses the entire sensor area, preserving the uncropped lens’s field of view while providing a choice between maximum detail and smaller files. Maestro IV processing supports these recording options and an ISO range of 50–100,000.

APO-Summicron 43mm f/2 ASPH. Lens
The integrated APO-Summicron lens offers a standard perspective suited to portraits, travel, and street photography. Its f/2 maximum aperture supports low light shooting and selective focus, while apochromatic correction helps control color fringing.
8K Video and ProRes Recording
Like the original Q3, a lot of design attention has been given to the video performance of the Q3 43; it’s a well-rounded multimedia camera with video performance that rivals the exceptional stills capabilities.

  • DCI 8K recording is supported at up to 30p with 4:2:0 10-bit color when recording internally or at 8-bit when recording externally via the micro-HDMI port.
  • 4K recording is also possible, with 4:2:2 10-bit color, at up to 60p with support for recording internally or externally. When shooting Full HD, the frame rate can be pushed to 120p for slow motion playback and all resolutions also support a true 24p frame rate for cinematic rendering.
Viewfinder
A 5.76m-dot OLED viewfinder provides detailed eye-level composition with a refresh rate up to 120 fps. The tilting 3″ 1.84m-dot touchscreen supports shooting from high and low positions and offers touch-based operation.
Portable, Weather-Sealed Design
The magnesium-alloy housing features IP52-rated protection against dust and water ingress.
