We Buy Secondhand Cameras and Lenses

Selling or trading-in your secondhand camera or lens is easy and hassle-free with Cameraland Sandton.

Step 1: Bring in Your Gear

Bring in your gear to Cameraland Sandton, Shop L48, Sandton City, Rivonia Rd, Sandton. We will inspect your secondhand camera or lens and give you a value on the spot.

If you are unable to visit the shop you can email us at sales@cameralandsandton.co.za or give us a call on 011 884 8036 and we will give you an estimated value for your goods. If you are happy with the valuation, then courier the equipment to us. We will then inspect the gear and give you an official value.

Step 2: Get Paid or Trade-Up

If you are selling your secondhand camera or lens we will pay you via an EFT to your preferred bank account.

If you are trading-in your gear you will receive a credit note for the traded-in gear and get invoiced for the new gear. Should the traded-in gear value exceed the value of the new gear purchased we will pay the difference to you via an EFT to your preferred bank account. Should the value of the new gear purchased exceed the value of the traded-in gear you can pay the difference via credit card, EFT or cash.

Please remember to bring with you your Identity Card or Passport when selling your secondhand camera or lens. By law, we can not purchase any gear from a person without proof of identity.

What do we check?

We check all secondhand cameras and lenses thoroughly before we buy.

Before purchasing a camera we check and test the following:

1. Wear and tear on the body and mount.
2. Memory card slots.
3. The mirror box on DSLR cameras.
4. All the modes and dials.
5. The LCD screen.
6. The Hot Shoe.
7. The Pop-up Flash.
8. The Sensor.
9. The shutter count.

Before purchasing a lens we check and test the following:

1. The front and rear elements.
2. The lens mount.
3. The lens terminals.
4. The stabilising function.
5. The Auto Focus function.
6. Wear and tear on the lens body.
7. The zoom and gear functioning.
8. The filter threads.

We only trade-in Mirrorless cameras and DSLR cameras and the price quoted is valid for 7 days.
